Description
Nuclear electric propulsion (NEP) systems are an efficient alternative to conventional chemical-based propulsion for large scale spacecrafts. In this project Dr. Beik will design and prototype a high-power, high-voltage, and high-speed innovative dual-rotor electric generator for NEPs, enabling efficient electric power conversion for deep-space missions such as human Mars travel. With a focus on reliability, power-density, and commercialization, this research lays the groundwork for advanced space propulsion technology and potential industry applications.
