Description
Our proposal introduces a next-generation processor card leveraging NASA's High Performance Spaceflight Computing (HPSC) technology, designed to revolutionize spacecraft computing capabilities for both AutoNGC systems and broader applications in small satellite C&DH and IC&DH. This innovation consolidates functionality that currently requires two separate processor cards in AutoNGC into a single, high-performance computing solution. The card features eight RISC-V cores with 512-bit vector units supporting computations up to 4096-bits wide, enabling autonomous operations, AI/ML workloads, and real-time analysis impossible with heritage computers. The processor card includes robust fault-tolerance features specifically designed for reliable operation in the harsh space environment and supports multiple operating systems (including Linux, VxWorks 7, and RTEMS) and can be easily integrated into various spacecraft architectures. This innovation represents a significant leap beyond current spaceflight computing capabilities, offering over 100x performance improvements per watt compared to current space-qualified computers.
