Description

Stitched Infused Thermoset Composite Hatch/window Receptacle (StITCHR) will design, analyze, manufacture, and test a stitched composite pressurized cabin window receptacle. The activity will explore developing technologies pertinent to stitching of composite preforms (fastener encapsulating stitching) and serve as a design cycle demonstration of stitched composites integrated into pressurized volumes.

Stitched Infused Thermoset Composite Hatch/window Receptacle (StITCHR) will design, manufacture, and pressure test a stitched composite pressurized cabin window receptacle that will allow for the development of larger crewed cabin windows on aircraft and spacecraft while minimizing associated mass. This will allow for the development of safer and more comfortable crew or passenger experiences on terrestrial passenger aircraft and in commercial and exploration spaceflight, with the added benefit of reducing structural mass and cost.
