(GCA-4 with Noblis): Knowledge Mesh for Open Discovery and Access of Geospatial and Natural Language Data

This project aims to establish a semantically-integrated Knowledge Mesh (KM) to unify NASA’s space weather, heliophysics, and textual data for advanced discovery and analysis. This IRAD will focus on two solar missions, Solar Orbiter and Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) to map phenomena to observables such as solar radiation to extreme ultraviolet irradiance in the EVE dataset. In FY25, the foundational mesh architecture will be built within Noblis secure environment, including use case definition, data ingestion, and semantic integration. In FY26, we will migrate the system into the NASA Helio Cloud environment to enable multi-domain decision support for heliophysics and disaster response stakeholders such as HDRL, Code 670, and space weather teams. The outcome of this project will enhance NASA’s space weather phenomena analysis with results in safeguarding human life and properties both in space and on Earth.

This is a mature technology (TRL 7+) — the realistic path in is usually NASA's Technology Transfer Program: licensing an existing NASA patent, or a Space Act Agreement to use NASA facilities/expertise directly. NASA also runs a startup licensing program with no upfront fee for companies formed to commercialize a specific NASA technology.
