Advancement of eXploration Components for In-Space Servicing (AXCIS) Variable Output Regulator (VOR) Optimization
Active
Description
The AXCIS Early Career Initiative (ECI) project developed a variable output regulator to technology readiness level (TRL) 4 for both low- and high-pressure servicing systems that allows for remote actuation over a large pressure range, enabling the ability to service multiple clients with one regulator in space or on the lunar/Martian surface. The AXCIS VOR Optimization project will perform work to raise the TRL of the AXCIS VOR to 6 through mechanical and electrical design optimization followed by delta qualification environmental testing.
Benefits
A TRL 6 AXCIS VOR ready for space flight testing.

How to get involved
This is a mature technology (TRL 7+) — the realistic path in is usually NASA's Technology Transfer Program: licensing an existing NASA patent, or a Space Act Agreement to use NASA facilities/expertise directly. NASA also runs a startup licensing program with no upfront fee for companies formed to commercialize a specific NASA technology.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
