Validating Telemetric Imaging Hardware for Crew-Assisted and Crew-Autonomous Biological Imaging in Suborbital Applications

Description
The specific objective of this maturation effort is to take biological fluorescent imaging instrumentation that was originally developed for shuttle and ISS experiments, and calibrate the hardware and data collection capabilities to timeframes optimal for suborbital applications. The focus is on moving the technology development from Shuttle/ISS, through current FO parabolic campaigns (see
Technology 12), and now into suborbital flight platforms. Insights gained here will support future suborbital science applications and opportunities in a broad range of biology studies, and extend further into other technology development.
Benefits
The technology will further the understanding of molecular genetic events that characterize biological response and adaptations that occur during the early phases of entry into spaceflight, which will benefit future NASA missions.
