Description
Mass Dynamix seeks to validate an Advanced Optical Mass Gauge (AOMG) that will measure liquid propellant accurately in a reduced gravity environment. This novel technology, called Metrix, would be a significant improvement over prior methods currently used to gauge propellants and will produce instantaneous measurements with up to an order of magnitude improvement on the error of existing in-space gauging methods, since propellant mass can be measured accurately in real-time as a direct observable.
Benefits
The technology to accurately measure liquid propellant in a reduced gravity environment will benefit the commercial space industry, future NASA missions, and other government agencies such as the military.
