International Space Station (ISS) Life Science Glovebox (LSG) Crew Restraint Testing

Description

The ISS Life Science Glovebox (LSG) Crew Restraints are a new and unique design that have never been used on-orbit aboard the ISS before. Several design aspects of the LSG Crew Restraints are dependent on their performance in a zero-g environment and are not possible to fully evaluate in a 1-g environment. This flight will leverage the support of the Astronaut Office at JSC to perform specific functions analogous to what will be required of them on-orbit while restrained by the LSG Crew Restraints. Crew member feedback from their participation in this flight will be critical to informing the final design of this hardware.

Benefits

The crew restraint technology will significantly enhance the ergonomics for the Life Sciences Glovebox (LSG) onboard the International Space Station (ISS). This technology is scheduled to lauched to the ISS in 2017.
