Description

ATLAS and GSFC collaborated on advancing the state of technology of the ATLAS LINKS electronically steered aperture array system. This LINKS system is a state-of-the-art lightweight, high-performance alternative to traditional parabolic, mechanically steered radio frequency satellite ground stations. The ATLAS LINKS system connected remotely to the ATLAS Freedom software platform, which enables automation and efficiencies gained by leveraging secure virtual computing technology and methods. This combination of advanced communications technology enhanced the capabilities of the NASA Near Earth Network while providing an opportunity for streamlining costly network management and control functions.
