Demonstrate Application-Specific Cryogenic Integrated Circuits (ASCICs) for large format, filled, dual-polarization infrared bolometer arrays operating in the milliKelvin regime. Specifically, we propose to develop time-domain multiplexed readout circuit capable of addressing two superconducting Transition Edge Sensors (TESs) within a 1 mm2 footprint, and suitable for indium-bump hybridization to bolometer arrays.
Integration of readout circuits with detector arrays allows greater scalability and smaller focal-plane size. The current State of the Art kilopixel readout circuit is capable of reading one TES per 1 mm square area. We have 1280-pixel arrays, directly indium-bump hybridized to 1 mm square cryogenic readout circuits. The pixel format is solely dependent on the readout circuit's footprint. Enabling a smaller footprint will permit scaling the pixel down to less than 1 mm and allowing higher pixel counts in the focal plane.
