Surface irregularity and spectral characterization of UV enhanced lithium fluoride, aluminum tri-fluoride, and magnesium fluoride coatings

Description

The scope of this task is to successfully characterize the coating process parameters for optimal spectral and surface wavefront capability. During the duration of this task, the coating process will be modified to minimize surface irregularities and stray light properties of a meter-class optic while qualifying its on-earth and on orbit environmental degradation. The proposed task is a technology maturation for risk reduction effort.

Benefits

Designed coating will allow for advanced space exploration by allowing more compact/lightweight system payloads (requiring less optical setups), enhanced detection, and more durable optics and coatings in the far-ultraviolet spectral region.
