Description

SPARROW (Sensor Package for Attitude, Rotation, and Relative Observable Winds) is a standalone instrumentation package capable of measuring the attitude, rotation, and relative wind encountered by a balloon gondola during ascent, float, and descent phases of flight. SPARROW is a custom-designed package comprised of commercially available sensor technologies modified to work together to measure relative winds at high altitudes.

Benefits

SPARROW will measure the relative winds seen by a scientific gondola during a balloon flight. This data can be used to predict wind loading and gondola attitude disturbances for future missions.
