Orbital Syngas/Commodity Augmentation Reactor (OSCAR)

Description

Project OSCAR aims to develop a functioning prototype reactor that demonstrates waste conversion in microgravity. The project will start with 1g laboratory testing followed by drop tower component verification at GRC Zero Gravity Facility. This will be followed by long duration integrated system testing on a suborbital flight. The waste material will consist of cotton washcloth and food packaging, and OSCAR will be studying combustion with enriched steam reforming, as down selected from the AES Trash to Gas project.
