Description

Adapt devices currently being used for neonatal care for aviators\nFabricate devices and then assess for ruggedness, reliability, durability, RF interference, flight readiness. Innovation\nWireless Battery-free sensors that are imperceptible to the wearer, but provide accurate physiologic data to help understand causes and prevent PEs\nCurrent sensors are bulky, battery powered, and suffer from motion induced artifacts and other issues that impact accuracy\nWearifi's devices are wireless, battery-free, virtually weightless, and mount directly on the skin or nail to essentially eliminate motion induced artifacts and can match or beat performance of clinical gold standard devices\nParameters to be monitored: heart rate, heart rate variability, pulse oximetry, temperature, and potentially others parameters like hydration state\n

Benefits

Develop and demonstrate accurate and rugged wireless battery-free sensors for real-time monitoring of physiologic parameters of flight crew with a form factor similar to a postage stamp and that is virtually imperceptible to the wearer. The sensor developed for this project has the potential to benefit NASA, military, and other high performance aviators, astronauts, medical and surgical patients, atheletes, and others who need or benefit from physiologic monitoring.
