Pathfinder Technology Demonstrator 2 (PTD-2) - BCT HyperXACT

Completed TRL 7 (started at 6, targeting 7)

Description

Goal of this project is to demonstrate an improved attitude determination and control system that was developed under the Tipping Point Program. This payload will be flown as part of the SST Pathfinder Technology Demonstration Mission Series.

Benefits

Development and demonstration of radiation tolerant, improved pointing accuracy attitude determination and control system will enable future deep space and long duration missions. The HyperXACT design will provide 5X improvement in reliability & pointing over the many state of the art systems whilst maintainig the 1/2 U form factor.

How to get involved

This is a mature technology (TRL 7) — the realistic path in is usually NASA's Technology Transfer Program: licensing an existing NASA patent, or a Space Act Agreement to use NASA facilities/expertise directly. NASA also runs a startup licensing program with no upfront fee for companies formed to commercialize a specific NASA technology.

None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
