Unintended transmission features far from the desired pass-band often present an obstacle to meeting a bolometric instruments noise sensitivity within cost and schedule. We propose to develop, fabricate, and demonstrate the use of a quasi-optical notch design to correct spurious filter-stack responses commonly encountered in the implementation of broad-band detector systems.
The challenges presented are associated with identification of appropriate materials and realization of feature tolerances. A novel fabrication process for the selected substrate material will be used to demonstrate the desired performance.
