Aerovators - Advanced Kite-Borne Instrumentation Systems

Description

Aerovators are an advanced method for lofting miniature instrumentation using kites. These devices are aerodynamically controlled, and will be a significant advancement in the state-of-the-art of independent ascending/descending devices, traditionally referred to as “Line Climbers”.

Benefits

Aerovators will augment global and regional scale Earth science observations with the ability to capture fine-sale atmospheric and remote sensing observations with novel altitude-commanded instrumented devices. These systems offer increased observation flexibility over established kite-based instrument systems currently in service by NASA, other government agencies, academia, and citizen science users.
