Integrated Green Propulsion Reaction Control System Module for Spacecraft and Small Launch Vehicle Applications

Description

This project focuses on three key areas for green propulsion technology development. The first is the design, analysis, development, and manufacturing of a tightly integrated propulsion module. The work aligns with NASA MSFC's goal of expanding green propulsion technology from 6U spacecraft into 12U, 27U, and ESPA class missions. It expands on the techniques needed for advancing manufacturing by incorporating additive manufacturing of components and thrusters. The second key area is to conduct hot-fire testing of the module as is designed for the MAV attitude control system application. The goal is to enhance the capabilities of the Solid Rocket Motor main propulsion system with a green propulsion attitude control system. The third key area is less tangible, but highly sought after benefit. This work will train a new group of students (Senior, Masters, and Ph.D. level) in the space spacecraft development practices.

The development of this system will develop a preliminary concept for a tightly integrated propulsion module using green propellants.
This project also aligns with the green propulsion working group 2018 development roadmap.
