Completed TRL 5 (started at 5, targeting 6)
This project will procure, mount, and test acoustic blankets on a previously built composite sandwich panel to quantify the effectiveness of acoustic blankets mounted to the interior of a curved composite sandwich structure and help validate analytical models.
Data from this test provides a unique opportunity to improve our analysis capabilities and provide physics based predictions. Knowledge from this test increases opportunities to support vibroacoustic work that involves composite design. Increases speed and efficiency of vibroacoustic predictions. Investment will allow us to better support commercial and in-house efforts with improved dynamic response of composite panels with acoustic blankets for space structural systems.

This is early/mid-stage (TRL 5) — the most realistic path in is NASA SBIR/STTR, which funds small businesses and research institutions to develop technology aligned with NASA's needs (equity-free, phased funding). Check whether a current SBIR/STTR solicitation topic overlaps with this project's technology area, or contact the project directly (above) to ask.
None of these are guaranteed paths for this specific project — TechPort itself doesn't have an "apply" button. Reaching out to the contact(s) above with a specific question is usually the fastest way to find out what's actually open.
