Printed Metallic Sensors Based on 3D Printing and Laser Sintering of Al Nanoinks

Description

Development of gas sensors, including a specific sensor for CO2, from metallic aluminum nanoinks. These nanoinks are 3D printed into sensor patters and then laser sintered instead of traditional thermal sintering processing.

Benefits

Sensors that can be fabricated with this process and these new materials would be much smaller, lighter, and more responsive than traditional discrete gas sensors. They could be manufactured in space using the multi material 3D printing processes developed in this project.
