Solid-state pixelated detectors for high solar X-ray fluxes often require the rapid digitization of parallel analog outputs while retaining high spectral-resolution performance. We will design, build, and test a new front-end electronics board that makes use of a newly available analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which would greatly simplify the system design compared to the past readout boards, allowing for significantly reduced volume and power dissipation.
Next-generation solar hard X-ray imagers will make high-sensitivity, high-dynamic-range observations of the signatures of accelerated electrons in solar eruptive events. This technology development will facilitate the use of state-of-the-art solid-state pixelated detectors by future missions by significantly reducing the resource requirements to read out those detectors.
