Regenerative Ammonia Removal from ISS Wastewater - FY19 IRTD

Description

Set up a test stand capable of testing ISS wastewater analogs for ammonia removal via precipitation using magnesium phosphate, after biological treatment has been completed.

Benefits

This process has potential industrial relevance, as well as use in ECLSS systems for government and commercial space programs. The EPA and USDA would also be interested for the environmental remediation and fertilizer generation and recycling ability, and the Florida League of cities has taken interest in this technology.
